History Lesson 85 : Review Of This Week

Mariner’s Astrolabe : The Portuguese laid the foundation to nautical discoveries, and the Mariner’s Astrolabe was useful in the wind. It became popular because it was put in a book called “THE ART OF NAVIGATION”.

Double-Entry Bookkeeping : Italian merchants needed to develop better accounting methods. Luca Pacioli documented this technique in a well received book.

Luca Pacioli : A growing merchant economy prompted Luca Pacioli’s interest in arithmetical skills. And he gained influence as a traveling university professor.

Leonardo Da Vinci : He was born to a wealthy family and had the gift of art. His paintings are now some of the most famous paintings in the world, including his painting Mona Lisa.

The Most Interesting Thing I Learned This Week : The most interesting thing I learned this week was Da Vinci’s robot. Because back then, things like wires or cables never existed, and he made it out of rope and pulleys.
